Colours From Nature
Materials: $45 (USD) (Covers dyes, mordants and yarns, plus mounting cards and handouts)
For most of time colours in textiles came from the everyday plants and animals that surrounded people. The colours that have mellowed over the years give the wall hangings of the Middle Ages their warm, earthy look. Today we can make bright yarns in the colors of the rainbow. Each dye pot will give 25 samples using different mordants and combinations. You can mix and match the dyestuffs to produce an even larger palette. Learn how to make reproducible colours and how serendipity gives colours that play well together. Students will go home with sample cards of all the colours we produce.
